The Childhood Builders workshop of March will be organized in cooperation with the City of Leeds. Leeds provides an excellent example of the development of innovative and child friendly practices.

This workshop will focus on how Children and Family services in Leeds changed its approach to the services we provide to support and help families struggling in the face of adversity, empowering and valuing families and their wider network to ensure that children and families can achieve the best possible outcomes. The workshop will explore some of key factors which led to this transformation.

The guest and our conversation leader for the event will be the Director of Children and Families, Leeds City Council, Saleem Tariq OBE.

Saleem (Sal) Tariq has worked as a social worker and manager at all levels of the social work service in Leeds, beginning his current post in 2016. Tariq is passionate about using restorative and relational approaches to give families a greater say in how to resolve their difficulties. Tariq was awarded an OBE in the 2019 New Year Honours for services to children’s services.

Please do notice the time zone:

The workshop will be held on Tuesday 9th of March at 13pm-15pm (in Finland, UCT+2) and 11am-13pm (in Great Britain, UCT) on Zoom.
